How To: Installation of an In-Dash Police Scanner
Submitted By: fordexplorer157
Overview
With the help of Izackary, we took my old in-dash scanner and made it that much better. This mod is fairly simple to perform and is a very cheap mod, if you already own the scanner. For that reason, we've given it a 3/5 for cost. With the scanner, this is a 1/5 cost mod.

Required Material
- Plastic Trimming Tool
- Double Cd Deck Holder
- External Speaker
- Radio Shack Scanner Big Enought To Fit The Hole
- Maintenance Manual for your Vehicle's Year/Make/Model
Procedure
- Take a BEFORE picture of your set-up for comparison purposes.

- Remove the radio bezel completely. Refer to your maintenance manual for the proper procedure for your model, make & year.

- Trim the inside of the radio bezel to make the scanner/Cd Deck Fit.

- With some model scanners, you might have to remove the top & lower covers to make it fit. Now use the 2 side plastic pieces from the deck kit and screw them into the sides. You do not need the front piece that divides the two.

- Make sure it fits and place it back together.

- Take an AFTER shot to show off your handy work to all your friends.

Now you have a custom fit scanner in your dash that looks and fits great. Its totaly secure inside and will not slide out because of the clips on the double deck holder.
