Submitted By: AK
Overview
This article is a step-by-step description of exterior detailing for your vehicle. The steps included in this instructional are: clay barring, waxing, and tire shine. Following this simple instructional will keep your vehicle looking clean and ‘showroom fresh’ for years to come.

Required Material
- Clay Bar
- Speed Shine (Meguiar’s NXT Generation Speed Detailer shown)
- Wax (Meguiar’s NXT Generation Tech Wax Paste shown)
- Tire Shine (No Touch Wet'n'Protect shown)
- 2-4 clean, dry cloths

Procedure
- Wash and dry your vehicle. This step can be accomplished either via a handwash or a carwash. If you choose to use a carwash, a ‘no-touch’ car wash is recommended.
- Spray the dry vehicle with speed shine, ensuring that the entire area is nice and wet.

- Apply the clay bar to the entire surface using a back and forth motion. Be sure to apply even pressure and attack all surfaces that have previously been sprayed with the speed shine.

- Buff the area dry with the dry cloth. That part of your vehicle should look clean and smooth now.

- Repeat Steps 2 through 4 for the entire body of the vehicle. Your entire vehicle should look clean and smooth now..

- Once the vehicle is clean and dry, it is ready for waxing. Open the can of wax and begin spreading the wax out in a thin layer utilizing medium-sized circular motions.

- Cover the entire body with wax. NOTE: Be sure NOT to wax your vehicle in direct sunlight. Make sure the vehicle is either in a highly shaded spot or under the cover of a carport or garage.

- Buff off the wax using a clean, dry cloth.

- Tire shine has many uses other than tires. Running boards, wheel wells, under the hood, and the undercarrige are all areas that can benefit from application of this substance. Simply remove the cap and spray where you want some shine to be added. Be sure to avoid body work as this substance can be detrimental to your paint.

- Take a step back and enjoy your nice clean vehicle. Be sure to snap a picture and post it on FordRides.com!
